Enzo Rovella

Enzo Rovella

Enzo Rovella was born in Catania in 1966, where currently lives and works. In 1992 he begins to expose and the successive year he holds his first exhibition in his city. Artist of sign and gesture, was strongly influenced by the Informal movement and by the astractism. He uses canvas of great dimensions, in which the color slides on, nearly took life, through thin venature, arranging itself on the canvas. From the essential and from the contrast between opposite, the white and the black, arise landscapes, log and glades, fragments of trees, snowy landscapes, slightly understandable. He dedicates constantly to the research and the study of the light: geometric plans, lights, shadows and glares are overlapped creating a game of coloristics feedback. His last jobs head more and more towards the geometric abstractionism: great canvas in which the superimposition of the two colors, mostly white and black, evoke the photography, cold and plain screens of a disturbed television. Between the '94 and 2006 participates to several collective exhibitions and expose in many personal in different galleries of Catania, with the exhibition "Offerta della Parola - Stesicorea" at the House of the poets-Devotion to the beauty, in the 2002, "The art to love the art", near the Civic Museum, Ursino Castle, in 2006. Between the main collective exhibitions we can remember the participation at the Attico Gallery of Fabio Sergentini, in the ' 97 and the personal exhibition at the Sergio Tossi Gallery of Prato in the same year. In the 2003 he partecipates at the XIV Quadriennale Preview Naples at Palazzo Reale and "Futura. Siciliani, tradizione e nuovo immaginario" near the House of the painter of Moscow. In 2005 he has exposed at the Beijing Biennale , curated by Vincenzo Sanfo, international commissioner of the exhibition.
