Mimmo Paladino
Mimmo Paladino was born in Paduli (Benevento) in 1948. Moving from the "conceptual" art, the first phase of the artist is focused on photography. Then in 1977 he realize a great paint with pastels on the wall at Lucio Amelio's gallery in Naples and participates at the international exhibition "Internationale Triennale fur Zeichnung" placed in Breslavia. In the years between 1978 and 1980 his works are mainly monochromatic paintings with strong colors and geometrical structures, but also found objects such as branches or masks. At "Aperto 80" within the Biennale of Venice, the art's critic Achille Bonito Oliva shows the trans-avanguard movement, that includes Chia, Clemente, Cucchi and Paladino too. This exhibitions shows how his painting is in debt with the past, for contents and forms, but at the same time full of symbols and able to open towards perspectives.
